LOVE what you do, so that one day you’ll get to do what you LOVE...
A reminder for us solopreneurs:
You have to do stuff you don't naturally love… until you have enough money to do only what you love.
Building a business as a solopreneur involves a huge variety of tasks and projects, most of which you wouldn’t naturally have thought - “This was what I was looking forward to doing, day to day, with an authentic business!”
The stronger your passion and vision for what should be your ideal work, the stronger you’ll feel the gap. The destination seems so far from where you are now.
The sane solution? You'll have to practice loving what you “have to” do now, to make money, so you can - one day in future - make money doing only what you love.

I have a playlist that I use for blind tests, it would have been helpful to know which videos got deleted/privated/copyright striked so I could replace them. Also, a video that got copyright striked still shows the miniature and title so in a big playlist it's unfindable

I saw quite a few comments with Christianity references. So maybe an older, very US centric (because of your high level of Christianity), empathetic audience? Be nice if it is possible to get a demographic breakdown of audience. The 'quitting' story is the powerful one, and resonates with probably most of us (who doesn't want to quite their day job?). The sincerity creeps through, although he is obviously neurodivergent. The male loner in wilderness would have attracted another audience segment. I am on the hunt for authentic narratives, and getting away from steriod and boxtox infused influencers or videos polished to the nanometer scale. But while I had a very positive response to this video, I could not watch much of it at all.

  • @ChloeLouiseTheRonnieRepublic

It was jaw-dropping. the content was jaw-dropping and I still cannot wrap my head around it because we all want to just be off worrk so bad and just be a good mom and be there for important events but we cannot because we have to still keep working or where are we going to live with our kids. Yes, we are all so envious and we are all so shocked. Contrast this with PBS American FAmilies over 30 years--two families that lost their well paying factory jogs when the plant went out of business. they did not have an education--struggled endlessly and worried about their kids living in poor neighborhoods with gangs. they kept working, working working at low paying jobs without benefits--one lost their house. I still am in shock from both programs. He could find a rewarding career in something like public health and, indeed, help may folks but i think there is more to his story. I feel like he is carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. Also, I want to go hiking in some of those beautiful areas. I am still in shock.

This video went viral because it was unedited, raw, as real as it can get. The majority of videos on youtube are hyper edited, filtered, with the goal of attracting as many views as possible. Dr Goobies video had no intention to go viral but it did because so many people can relate to his situation. Feeling empty at work doing jobs that don't serve out highest purpose is a major problem humanity is facing at work. The difference between him and us is that Dr Goobie had the balls to quit. Unlike the majority of us who continue to work our unfullfilling jobs even though we want to quit. HE also shares some very disturbing inconvinient observations about the medical profession that has the potential to harm the established order of the medical field. Very courageous for Dr Goobie to share his observations and his life so openly.

    • @marsbrown4834

Guts, yes, probably. But he would have the luxury of presumably a huge amount of savings/investments from neurosurgery, maybe more than most people might save in their entire lives.

I agree completely with Dr. Goobie. The "healthcare" system has become a death trap for both patients and providers alike. I am a Nurse Practitioner. Worked in "healthcare" since 2008. I have taken care of patients from the White House to top Generals of our nation at Walter Reed. I've worked in Primary Care, Psychiatry, and Neurology and it's all the same every where I go. I had to leave because you cannot be ethical or moral in our system today. Only GOD can heal us. This is happening for a reason, but we all have a choice. I choose to tell the truth. "He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions." Psalm 107:20

The video may have been “boring” in our hyper-stimulated society, I thought it a much needed antidote to the depression/anxiety/stress most of Americans feel. We are a people feeling empty and tapped out pouring ourselves into an ideal of what we think makes us happy. Doobie is a heroic voice because he reached the ideal of “success” to say this all feels wrong.

Recently discovered your prolific work and service and had to let you know that this video was very helpful to me... thank you for creating it, I can feel the honesty and intention of your service! I run what I call a 'creative research studio' and in the way that I understand the three phases that you shared, it's creative research in action! I wanted to share how I made sense of your framework: Phase 1 of exploration/play is where we get to listen to our own inner stirring (listening to my creative desire and pure expression), Phase 2 is the zone of iteration based on what resonated (this is all about service and responding to need-more outer oriented), and then I'm thinking of Phase 3 of Promote as a the sacred synthesis of the process, where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. That's my takeaway anyway :) Thank you again!

  • @brandsarealive

Great points. Here are mine to add: 1) His title creates a ton of curiosity 2) In the intro, he keeps building this curiosity loop ("I did it for 20 years, then I quit, and nobody could understand", etc.) - he intentionally or unintentionally sucks you in with dramatism. 3) The mountain and sound of water stream are not to be underestimated. We are hard-wired to stare at beautiful scenes. It's literally linked to our survival. 4) At the 1:33 minute mark he's saying he's "still trying to sort out his thoughts". People LOVE that stuff. From my experience, when I share in real time what I'm going through and how I'm figuring out in my own life, people pay attention. This means his video's intro has more retention than average, which means the algorithm 100% gave it a push. I didn't even get to the 2 minute mark on his video, so this is what I have for now. IF I do watch the whole thing (I doubt it, but heck, maybe I will as a case study 😅) I will come back and add my thoughts.
